Jacolien de Jong creates drawings using a mixture of techniques. Using ink and pastel, she conjures up a world on paper in which thoughts and ideas are literally shaped into imaginary landscapes and spaces. In making her drawings, Jacolien allows herself to be inspired by the inscrutable world of fantasies and thoughts of the human brain. The mystery of the origin of ideas, the evoking of memories and thoughts that sprout from the human brain literally take structure and shape in her drawings. Multi-layered views, organic shapes, flowing lines and earthy forms are recurring motifs in her work.
